Thought I'd make a new post for anyone who wants to show off their fan wallpaper art. On other websites i have made topics like this so i can have a topic to post from without flooding forums that do not have a fan art let alone a wallpaper art section on their site/forum.

All i ask from the admins is please dont lock this topic. I will be posting here almost weekly posting new artwork.

Thanks,

HK

(Also incase of double posting issues i will start this post off with an addition below)

The Radiant Visage

: S I Z E S :

2560x1600 - 1920x1200 - 1600x1200

Hello everyone, sorry I haven’t been active in recent weeks. Dealing with a cold, and a smashed left toe are things that tend to pull me away. I have also been trying to see if someone could help me with the Radiant Visage but to no avail. So I thought it was time to just use what I have and bring out the rune symbol in a cool way. Better this than letting a nice piece of art rot for a few more weeks.

This rune I build much like the Inner Sanctuary. I literally reused the same graphic space with the blue boxes centering the image. What I did was impose in the background, the symbol from in-game screenshots. The best I could see showing the rune at its best. Since the game is at a certain angle I had to naturally tweak the angles and do my best within a margin of error; straiten out the design so I could rebuild it.

When I rebuilt this rune I used extremely large ellipses and tried to make them match on one side so I could in essence flip one quarter of the image to the left then merge the two and mirror down. This made the image match better and look more even. I also drew an ellipse small enough for me to round out but make the center line of the eye design. With this I also flipped and mirrored the small area to give me a faint rounded slash through the eye in the middle just like the main symbol.

I hope everyone will enjoy this as much as I have making it and sorry the delays were bad; it’s been a rough few weeks for me. See you next week.

Fiery Runes Series 3 - Locations XI - Lut Bahadur

: S I Z E S :

2560x1600 - 1920x1200 - 1600x1200

It has been a few weeks hasn’t everyone. Sorry I have been away from wallpapers as much as I have. I’ve also been helping diii.net with their Diablowiki with the Fan fiction section, and life as usual pulling me away too. Well enough with my ramblings!

This wallpaper was in my mind for a few months after people weren’t so well received with the last locations wallpaper. This time I broke down my standards for this sub series and made the runes as graphical bars like I should have done in the first place. I also have changed the runes. You should notice they aren’t so bright anymore. I tried an effect with the original rebuilt fiery runes that I made back on the 4th locations wallpaper for Tristram. For me those runes look so much sharper and much less distracting.

Also as usual I added the world map in the background and no alchemy again in the background too. I also used a stock texture image from deviant art by Wojtar. See the original texture here: Paper texture 4 Please let me know what you think guys. I personally think I finally got it right for this wallpaper series.

See you next time!

Fiery Runes Series 3 - Locations XII - The Stinging Winds

: S I Z E S :

2560x1600 - 1920x1200 - 1600x1200

Greetings everyone, this week I decided to continue the locations series with The Stinging Winds. This time I chose to make sure that I had some variations in the walls like in the past; maybe subtle but still small changes. This time I found another stock texture off Deviant art again. This one was a Sandpaper Stock by Enchanted Gal. See her stock page here.

With that texture I was able to get a sandy feel to the background. I thought that adding some of the dusty scenes from in-game shots of the location itself along with the world map was a cool change. With that I will see you next week for another wallpaper.

See you next time!

Fiery Runes Series 3: Locations XIII - The Borderlands

: S I Z E S :

2560x1600 - 1920x1200 - 1600x1200

Hey everyone, sorry its been a few weeks since the last wall. This time I went a little further than my usual recolor of the runes. Unlike before where I would grab the runes and recolor a few color tones and make them look nice. This time I went back to the rune-circle redid the same filter effect as the dim runes and did some different coloring.

With the runes like they were now I did a faint darker blue glow and called them Twilight Runes. With that I redid the lighting for the red areas of the rune-bars. Then I build a faint blue glow effect above and below the runes to give them a more tangible effect unlike before.

I also searched for some nice stock images from deviant art to help add to the background effect with the map. The map is harder to see but the effect is there. It is night time in the concept art, and so I made sure to match that with the background.

Fiery Runes Series 3: Locations XIV - The Goat Hill Tabern

: S I Z E S :

2560x1600 - 1920x1200 - 1600x1200

Greetings everyone it has been a while hasn't it. With Christmas coming I wanted to make a wallpaper. Sadly the image took more time than I planned and it arrived a day later. Oh well as the saying goes; "Better late than never."

With this wallpaper I went the extra mile in details. It may not look like much but this was a more detailed work for me adding to the original Goat Hill Tabern concept art. I removed all the outdoor structures save for the sign and a few stools and tables outside the building.

I tried to make this image as best as I could with the snow. Sorry it's a tad blurry on the larger sizes. The original concept art was small and I build the snow and everything from the original, and then blew the picture up. I'm not fond of doing this a lot but I hope it doesn't detract from the work I did. I will be posting the original sized version of the art in a fan art post soon.

The snow was the most time consuming aspect of this image. When I added it all; I was grateful that my computer didn't crash. I reworked this snow at least 3 times until later on when I was halfway done with the snow on the roof. Originally I used some of the texture from the ground to cover the buildings like they weren't there and do a simple recolor on top of the texture. Later I just painted white on top of it and got the result you see now.

The background behind the Tabern was from the original art, I just changed the color and what you see now was the final effect. The building and some of the side structures were painted around and cropped out so I could get the background effect. I made the background a blank gray so I could paint in some clouds, and maybe change some of the trees, but in the end the color effect was better.

In the end the runes were simple recolored like in the past instead of rebuilt like the Twilight Runes were in the last wallpaper. I wanted to make them red and green but the result of them being white instead was a better balance. I tried to also add a festive texture behind the map again but used an old stock texture and the map again like the Lut Bahadur wallpaper was. Over all; this piece took me at least 4 hours 3 of which were on the snow, and the other hour putting up with the slowness that is my computer. I hope to finally get a new one this next tax season.

I hope you all like this piece. I wanted to give something a little more for the community, and my fans. Plus I haven't made a Christmas wallpaper yet. Enjoy and I will see you next time, and hope you all had a great Christmas.

Fiery Runes Series 3 - The Female Monk - 1.0

: S I Z E S :

1920x1200 - 1600x1200

With the revealing of the female monk i used screen caps to build her up and compile. I saw the one on the site and thought it looked a little smashed.

This one looks a little off still but i think it was best suited for the fiery runes series. I will make a better version when the artwork is officially thrown on the website.

You should also notice the fiery runes. Its the dim runes as a runecircle. I've been meaning to do this lately and they look so different from the old runes. But they don't overwhelm the image from the target that the wallpaper is about.

Sorry the monk is blurry i did the best with what i had for now. Also after this wallpaper I will be posting only two sizes for each wallpaper everyone's computer monitors should be able to resize nicely the 16:9 (2560x1600) and 4:3 (1600x1200) sizes.

Until next time!

Fiery Runes Series 3: Visage of the Light - The Monk

: S I Z E S :

2560x1600 - 1600x1200

Evening all this time around in the wallpapers I decided to use the flash animations from the d3 website for the stances of the monks. Since the concept art didn’t give me what I wanted. Sorry if they are blurry and jaggy in a way, but I did what I could with what I had.

Now then with this wall there were many ways I could have gone with this. One was the golder radiant visage rune from my past wallpapers. That didn’t look so well. I also tried to make the fiery runes gold and that could have worked but was still kinda meh. So in the end I re-used my original black radiant visage rune. Did some radiant blur effects, and changed the color to white and faded it out on top of the des-systema ground graphic. I thought this looked good so I created a lens flare on another image and brought it in and blended it on the top to give that visage that added glow.

I also tried to give the monks a faint white glowing corona/aura effect around them but that just didn’t work for me with what I was using. I also added some light effects on the monks feet like when I did my Inner Sanctuary wall a while back. I will be posting a non fiery runes version of this next week; should there be enough requests.

That is all I have this week please enjoy this wall. Until next time!

Fiery Runes Series 3 - Locations XV - Kehjistan

2560x1600 - 1600x1200

Finally back in the game again. This week i have utilized some of my lost wallpapers and cropped what i needed for the runebars from the last locations wallpapers. I will be doing this for this locations set for the time being until i can remake that which i lost: The Twilight Runes, and Dim Runes.

As always all art (C) Blizzard and the Concept Artist. The lost dim fiery runes made by me using Corel Photo Paint 8 with Alienware Eyecandy 4000.

Enjoy, and sorry I've been away for so long.

Fiery Runes Series 3 - Locations XVI - Caldeum II

: S I Z E S :

2560x1600 - 1600x1200

This time around I thought I'd redo the old Caldeum wallpaper. But with a different piece of art. And this one by peter lee was amazing. I also tried to tweak the texture behind the world map and got that wonderful shade of brown to add to the image over all.

Hope you guys like, and see you next week!

Fiery Runes Series 3 - Locations XVII - Skovos II

: S I Z E S :

2560x1600 - 1600x1200

A remake of the old Skovos Islands wallpaper I made using the current style of the locations series. I did a few variations of the blue where the world map was but they were too blinding bright, and so i went with a darker tone to match the deep waters around the island.

Unfortunately the runes stand out but hopefully not so much as to detract from the image. On a side note I am starting work on revamping the old runes. Been doing some runework for my wow guild's site.

I hope you guys like and I will see you next week as i prepare for Ureh!
